After the dreary winter clears, spring in Georgia is a breath of fresh air. However, it does require some maintenance to keep your home and the neighborhood looking beautiful and up to our HOA Community Guidelines.

For your lawn, some good post-winter sprucing ideas are cleaning up the edges, getting back into a schedule of mowing and watering the grass, and even considering fertilizing to give it a boost for the warmer months. Keep an eye on designated beds as the flowers begin to bloom and make sure they’re free of weeds, clearly separated from the rest of the lawn, and make sure to apply for approval if you decide to take on any landscaping projects.

Pull out patio furniture and make sure it’s clean and ready to go after not being used for a few months. As always, please make sure any furniture, hoses, fences, and fixtures are well maintained and consider the curb appeal of the neighborhood. We recommend keeping recreational equipment in your backyard, not visible from the street. For larger items such as boats, trailers, and RVs remember they are only permitted to be parked in front of a residence for 48 consecutive hours. If you have approved enclosed storage on your property, they can of course be kept there!

It’s a good idea to check on your gutters (and other drainage systems) for the inevitable spring showers. Experts recommend clearing everything out a minimum of twice a year, so spring cleaning is a great opportunity to keep up with this. Before it gets too hot outside, also make sure your air filters and laundry vents are all cleared out for the safest cooling and air quality. This is also an important step to be ready for pollen season. Clean air filters can be a huge help in keeping allergens out of your home. If you have outdoor furniture that is difficult to clean, consider using washable furniture covers to protect it from pollen.

Spring is a season full of beauty and exciting milestones, and we’re excited to see the community in full bloom.
